SiO health offers several health services: dentist, GP, psychologist and counselling.

Mental health

If you are experiencing a difficult life and study situation, it can be nice to have someone to talk to. SiO offers hours with psychologists and counsellors who can help you with your challenges such as sleep problems, stress, anxiety, depression, exam problems and eating disorders.

SiO also offers courses and groups that can make everyday life as a student easier. Here you get practical training, good tips and tools and an opportunity to talk to others in the same situation.

GP at SiO?

If you choose a GP at SiO, you will get a doctor who is a specialist in common student problems. The doctors at SiO are specialists in general medicine, or are in the process of specializing. Public health nurses, vaccinations, blood tests, etc. are part of the offer.

If your health expenses this year are more than 350,-, you can apply for reimbursement. SiO’s GP patients can book an appointment online.

The website is our most important information channel since it contains all the information about what we do and who we are. On the website we have an event overview and a news page where you can read about what is happening at Barratt Due at all times.

Facebook 
On Facebook we post concerts, events, course offers, application deadlines, news, share exciting posts from others and much more.

Instagram
We use Instagram in much the same way as Facebook, but in a slightly more informal tone.

Barratt Due has an agreement with the library at NMH that gives our students free access and the possibility of borrowing books, sheet music and journals from NMH’s own collections. The agreement includes the use of listening and video rooms, but not PC and group rooms.

The library at NMH issues library cards to HBD students who show their student ID. HBD students gain access to the library by presenting their student ID to the reception on the 1st floor.

HBD students have access to a copy card at the library counter, which is issued upon request from the student. Please note that the student is obliged to follow Kopinor’s rules for copying.

The library is closed on all public holidays. Other changes in opening hours in connection with Easter, summer and Christmas will be published on the website.

Barratt Due Academy’s work to ensure and further develop the quality of studies is based on a central principle of collecting and using student feedback. This is done through the following channels:

• Subject surveys – annually
• Study Barometer – annually
• Learning Environment Survey – every 3rd year
• SHOT Survey – every 4th year
• Regular meetings between the student council, administration and management

If you as a student experience something that is not right, it is important that you speak up.

All criticism-worthy circumstances should be reported to the head of department at the academy, or you can contact the student ombudsman for an independent and confidential conversation.

This may apply:

• Unwanted sexual attention
• Harassment or discrimination
• Punishable conditions
• Breach of laws and regulations
• Breach of Barratt Due’s own guidelines
• Inappropriate behavior or violation of basic ethical standards

Justification for, and complaint about, the determination of the grade

• The student has the right to receive a justification for the determination of the grade. In the case of an oral or executive/practical examination, a request for such justification must be made immediately after the grade has been announced. In the case of other assessments, a request for justification must be made within one week of the grade being announced.
• A justification shall normally be given within two weeks of the candidate’s request. The justification shall explain the general principles on which the assessment of the candidate’s performance are based. The justification shall be given orally or in writing at the examiners’ discretion. If the examiners, in connection with a request for justification, find that there may be reason to change the grade determined, they shall express this in a written justification. In this regard, the examiners may only change the original grade in favour of the candidate.
• A candidate may appeal in writing about the grade for his or her own performance within three weeks of the announcement of the examination results. A new examination shall then be conducted with new examiners, and the grade may be changed both in favour and against the complainant.
• If justification for the grade is required or a complaint is made about formal errors in the assignment, examination or assessment, the appeal period will not run until the student has received the justification or a final decision on the appeal has been made.
• The assessment of an oral examination, a performance/practical examination, an assessment of practical work or other assessment that, due to the nature of the examination, cannot be reviewed, can also not be appealed. Exceptions are complaints about formal errors.
• When complaining about grades or about formal errors after the candidate has received the diploma, the diploma must be submitted at the same time in order for the complaint to be processed.
• More detailed rules on deadlines and procedures for handling complaints are given in Chapter V of the Higher Education Act and Chapter VI of the Public Administration Act.

Refer to the Study Regulations §13 for guidelines regarding absence and leave of absence.

All regular teaching requires 80% attendance unless otherwise stated in the study and/or course plan.

HBD projects require 100% participation.

Applications for absence/leave of absence are sent to the study administration at studieadmin@bdm.no.

Applications are processed in consultation with the subject teacher/section leader in the relevant course/project.

If you are sick and cannot participate in a lesson, you must notify the study consultant and the teacher of the subject as soon as possible.

A medical certificate from a GP or equivalent must be submitted immediately after the absence begins. Note that all absences, including those due to illness, count towards the 20% absence limit.

However, a medical certificate ensures that the study administration is informed and can make arrangements if you exceed the limit.

Without a medical certificate, you risk losing the right to take the exam or failing the course.
