Music Play

Music Play is a music programme for children from the age of 3 months to 6 years old.

Through singing, dancing, movement and playing with instruments, children get to explore music on their own terms, in a safe learning environment with their peers. Until they are three years old, they are also allowed to have a guardian accompany them.

The teaching emphasisizes mastery, creative expression and joy of music, not individual instrumental training.

Singing
Singing is our most important musical tool. The voice accompanies us from birth – we babble, make sounds and sing, long before we learn to speak. Through singing, children develop both musicality and the ability to enjoy music.

Dance and movement
Children learn through their body, through their senses. When they hear music, they respond spontaneously with movement and mimicry. Dance and movement – ​​both guided and free – introduce children to the elements of music and provide a solid foundation for further musical development.

Improvisation and creative activities
Children live in the present, full of imagination and spontaneity. In Music Play, they get to experiment with singing, instruments, dancing and rhythmic movement. Improvisation and creative play are always a natural part of the instruction.

1 guardian is required to participate together with the youngest children. Both parents are of course welcome to participate.

Many children are accompanied by their mother, father, or grandparents as guardian(s).

Rules and Regulations for Music Play Barratt Due 2025/2026

Participation in Music Play Barratt Due serves as confirmation that the parent or guardian has read and accepted the rules and regulations for 2025/26.

Semester payment:
The music programme is organized as an annual course. The 2025/2026 academic year consists of 2 semesters, a total of 33 lessons. The annual course fee is divided into 2 semesters and invoiced per semester.

The duration of the music lessons is 45 minutes. The price for a semester is NOK 5665 –

The invoice is sent to the person listed as the main contact on the application form. The parent or guardian is financially committed for a semester. If the child leaves during a semester the parent or guardian will be invoiced for that current semester.

Withdrawal after the first lesson:
After the first music lesson, there is an opportunity to withdraw. Withdrawal is made by email to cecilie.eeg.johansen@bdm.no within the first subsequent music lesson according to the teaching calendar. Guardians will be invoiced for participation in this music lesson with NOK 500, which covers the first music lesson and administration fee.

Continuation from autumn to spring semester:

Participating children in the autumn semester 2025 will automatically continue to the spring semester 2026 unless Barratt Due receives written withdrawal by December 1st to cecilie.eeg.johansen@bdm.no. If there is no cancellation, parents will be invoiced for the spring semester 2026.

Cancellation of music lessons:
If a music lesson is cancelled, the parent listed as the main contact will be notified by email. Barratt Due can cancel up to 4 lessons in total during the academic year if necessary. If a lesson is cancelled, this is because the teacher has become ill and because we have not been able to find a qualified substitute. Any cancellations beyond these 4 times, parents will be refunded NOK 343 for 45 minutes of music lessons.

Substitutes:
There is no right to a refund if the music group’s instructor is replaced by another instructor

Contact information:
It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that Barratt Due has an updated mobile phone number, email address and address where they can be reached at all times. Information from Barratt Due will be sent by email to the main contact.

Absence:

If your child is sick and cannot attend kindergarten, they will also not be able to attend the music group. If the child is absent more than two times in a row, we would like to be informed of the absence.

In the case of individual absences, it is not necessary to give notice. There is no right to a refund if the participating child is sick or absent for other reasons. The child cannot make up for missed music lessons in another music group.

Discontinuation of music group:

If a music group does not receive a sufficient number of registrations, Barratt Due may choose not to start the group, discontinue it or establish it at another time.

Students:

Barratt Due is an educational institution. Some music groups will periodically have trainee students in addition to the permanent teacher.

Behavioral problems:

If a child has behavioral problems that affect the dynamics of the group, we will take the necessary measures in consultation with the parents.

PC and mobile:

It is encouraged that mobile and PC use is kept to a minimum during music lessons. There is no reason to take pictures or videos during music lessons. If so, this must be clarified in advance.

Music Play costs kr 5,665 per semester.

The invoice will be sent to the main contact listed on the application form – once per semester.

When you register for a children, you are committing to one semester. If the child drops out during the term, the semester fee must still be paid.
Children who start in the fall, are automatically registered for the spring semester, unless we receive cancellation notice by December 1st.
