Aural Training II

Learning Outcomes

Students who have successfully completed the course:

  • are able to recognise and reproduce complex melodic structures, both in writing and orally or on an instrument.
  • are able to recognise and reproduce complex harmonic structures, both in writing and orally or on an instrument.
  • are able to recognise and reproduce complex rhythmic structures, both in writing and orally or on an instrument.
  • are able to apply knowledge and skills acquired in aural training to practical music-making.

  • Melody, harmony and rhythm.
  • Sight-reading.
  • Chord recognition and dictation.
  • Aural analysis.
  • Imitation of musical structures and phrases.
  • Intonation.
  • Performance on the main instrument.
