Learning Outcomes
Students who have successfully completed the course:
- are able to recognise and reproduce complex melodic structures, both in writing and orally or on an instrument.
- are able to recognise and reproduce complex harmonic structures, both in writing and orally or on an instrument.
- are able to recognise and reproduce complex rhythmic structures, both in writing and orally or on an instrument.
- are able to apply knowledge and skills acquired in aural training to practical music-making.
Teaching and Learning Methods
The course covers work in the following areas:
- Melody, harmony and rhythm.
- Sight-reading.
- Chord recognition and dictation.
- Aural analysis.
- Imitation of musical structures and phrases.
- Intonation.
- Performance on the main instrument.
