Aural Training I
Course Overview

- Prerequisites: Successful completion of the entrance examination for the Bachelor’s Programme in Music Performance

Learning Outcomes
Students who have successfully completed the course:
- are able to identify fundamental musical structures both aurally and visually, and to reproduce them orally and in writing.
- are able to sight-read, memorise and reproduce melodies and rhythms, including simple polyrhythms.
- have a basic understanding of tonal harmony.
- are able to apply knowledge and skills acquired in aural training to practical music-making.

- Melody, harmony and rhythm
- Developing an awareness of fundamental structures in tonal and atonal music
- Sight-reading (prima vista)
- Chord dictation
- Aural analysis
- Performance on the principal study instrument
