Trond Magne Brekka

Trond Magne Brekka has served as principal piccolo flutist in the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.

Trond Magne Brekka is the principal piccolo flutist in the Oslo Philharmonic and teaches flute and piccolo at the Young Talents programme and the Barratt Due Academy.

Brekka began his studies as a guest student at the Norwegian Academy of Music, continued at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, and subsequently completed a diploma after further studies at the Royal College of Music in London.

As a chamber musician, he has performed on radio and television and at festivals such as the Bergen International Festival and the Risør Chamber Music Festival, among others. He has also appeared as a soloist with several Norwegian orchestras and military bands and has given masterclasses in flute and piccolo in Norway and across Europe.

Before joining the Barratt Due Institute of Music, Brekka taught at the Grieg Academy in Bergen, NLA University College Staffeldsgate, and the music program at Manglerud Upper Secondary School.
