Sjur Bjærke is the operations manager at Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt. He ensures that the institute’s buildings are maintained both inside and out, and that all technical systems function properly. He coordinates and oversees work performed by the janitor, piano tuners, and other external technical and craft service providers. Any requests, questions, or needs related to the daily operation of the premises are directed to him.
Bjærke has a background as a double bassist, earning his diploma from Norges musikkhøgskole in 1984. He taught double bass at Barratt Due, first at the Fagskole and later for Unge Talenter, from 1989 to 2015. Since 1996, he has held various administrative roles, and until 2021 he produced the institute’s major orchestra projects.
He also serves as the responsible officer for operations within the Bygg- og Driftsforumet (Building and Operations Forum).
