Siri Haukenes is an experienced performer, arranger, lecturer, and researcher. She has written textbooks, songbooks, and articles, and released several CDs, including recordings of Norwegian and Swedish folk tunes in her own arrangements.
Haukenes holds a cand. philol. degree from the University of Oslo and trained as a piano pedagogue at Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt. She has extensive teaching experience, covering music history, listening methodology, folk music, vocal and instrumental arranging, ensemble playing, dance, music pedagogy, and didactics at multiple educational institutions. At Barratt Due, she has focused particularly on Norwegian music history and folk music.
Her publications include Lidele galen, lidele god (songbook and CD, 2001), Reisefølge (CD and notation, 2006), and Raffe Riff (book with audio files on vocal arrangements, 2015). She has also authored scholarly articles on topics such as Grieg’s guidance for Ibsen’s dramas and children’s singing repertoire, and has been recognized for her work creating large drums for children.
In addition to her role as first lecturer at Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt, Haukenes is also a first lecturer at OsloMet – Oslo Metropolitan University.
