Pierre Xhonneux comes from Belgium and is the principal clarinetist in the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra (OFO) and teaches at the Academy at Barratt Due Institute of Music.
Xhonneux studied at the Institut Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur with J.-L. Votano and with Nicolas Baldeyrou at the Paris Conservatory. He has also studied historical clarinets at the Conservatory in Ghent.
He has won several international competitions for his clarinet playing, including Dexia Classics and Pacem in Terris.
In addition to his position with the OFO, Xhonneux is active as a chamber musician with, among others, the Oslo Chamber Academy and various other ensembles in Norway and Belgium. In the 2017/2018 season, he also served as a substitute principal clarinetist with the Malmö Symphony Orchestra.
