Max Nyberg

The Swedish pianist Max Nyberg has composed several works that have been performed and published both in Sweden and internationally. He was a prizewinner at the International Piano Competition “J. S. Bach” in Würzburg in 2016.

Nyberg trained as a pianist at Barratt Due Institute of Music and HfMT Köln, studying with teachers including Jiri Hlinka, Michael Endres, and Michael Rische.

In 2017, he made his debut on the German radio station WDR3 with a solo concert featuring music by Bach, Beethoven, Schönberg, and his own compositions. He has received grants from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm. After self-study, he was admitted in 2016 to the master’s program in composition at the University of Gothenburg’s Academy of Music and Drama. In 2015, his first published work, 5 Narratives for bass clarinet and piano, was released by an American music publisher. In spring 2017, his piece Tyngdpunkt-Runmarö, a tribute to the poet Tomas Tranströmer, premiered with the Blåsarsymfonikerna in Stockholm.

Max Nyberg is a college lecturer and accompanist at Barratt Due Institute of Music, teaching at both the Young Talents programme and the Music School.
