Mattias Lundqvist has been employed at the Barratt Due Institute of Music since 2013 and has held the position of Development Coordinator since 2022. In this role, he is responsible for three main areas: developing and implementing the institute’s digitalization strategy, managing and coordinating the European network for talent development YMTE (Young Music Talents in Europe), and driving internal development processes related to the Step-by-Step program and school facilities.
Previously, he served as Head of the Young Talents department, overseeing study programs, teaching, and the daily operations of the department in both Oslo and Bergen. He also collaborated closely with the Center for Talent Development to strengthen educational offerings for young music talents across Norway.
Mattias is a trained double bassist and had a ten-year career as a performing musician in Norwegian symphony orchestras before transitioning to full-time administration and production. He has also served as festival director for the Sandvika Big Band Festival, orchestra director for the Norwegian Wind Ensemble, and principal at the Kulturskolen in Vestby and Fredrikstad.
