Lina Årnes has been a member of the Oslo Camerata for many years, and has traveled around the world with the orchestra. She has also played with the Trondheim Soloists, the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra and a number of other orchestras, and has contributed to over 40 recordings in many different genres.
She is educated at the Barratt Due Institute of Music, where she studied violin with Stephan Barratt-Due. After receiving a bachelor’s degree from the institute, she studied for 2 years with Professor Pavel Vernikov at the Scuola di musica di Fiesole in Florence before returning to the Barratt Due Institute of Music and completing her pedagogical education.
Lina Årnes has been a permanent member of the Oslo Camerata for many years, traveling around the world and performing with the orchestra. She has also played in a number of other Norwegian orchestras, including the Trondheim Soloists, the Norwegian Broadcasting Orchestra and the Bergen Harmonien. In addition to the classical repertoire, she has experience in a number of other genres such as jazz, film music, Latin, pop and rock, and she has participated in more than 40 recordings, including several recordings that have received the Spellemannprisen and been nominated for the Spellemannprisen. Artists she has collaborated with include Sivert Høyem, Sigvart Dagsland, Minor Majority, Cirque du Soleil, Jan Eggum, Thom Hell, Marit Larsen, Paal Flåta, Uriah Heep, Hellbillies, Hot Club de Norvege, Oslo Strings, Kurt Nilsen, Frank Zappa band, Jacob Young and Trygve Seim. In 1998 she helped found the Christiania String Quartet (Anders Nilsson, Ida Bryhn and Andreas Gulden).
Årnes is the leader of the Chamber Ensemble and the violin group at the Barratt Due Institute of Music. She has played in master classes with, among others, Camilla Wicks, Detlef Hahn, Nicolai Znaider, Zakhar Bron, Boris Kushnir, Mauricio Fuks, Henning Kraggerud and Arve Tellefsen. She teaches the main instrument violin at Music at Majorstuen.
