Ketil Grøtting holds a Cand. Musicae degree with a major in choral conducting from the Norwegian Academy of Music in 2001. He studied under Grete Pedersen, and completed his master’s degree with music by, among others, Monteverdi, Schütz, Brahms and Ligeti. He holds a Cand. Mag. degree in musicology, history and history of ideas from the University of Oslo, practical pedagogical education (PPU) from the same institution, and has studied church music at the Norwegian Academy of Music. He is a cantor at Sinsen Church in Oslo.
Ketil has extensive experience as a teacher, organist, singer and choir conductor. He has a versatile musical practice, from performances of central modern works, recordings as a choir singer, international work with music from different countries and times, to projects with improvisation and composition in the classroom.
Ketil teaches piano as a secondary instrument at Musikk at Majorstuen. Here, students integrate theory, ear training and music history into the subject, as well as learning basic skills on electric bass and drums.
