Julie Yuqing Ye is a performing pianist and piano teacher. She works as a freelance musician and private instructor, in addition to being associate professor at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.
She completed her Diploma studies in 2018 and her Practical Pedagogical Education in 2021 at the Norwegian Academy of Music, where she studied with Håvard Gimse and Marianna Shirinyan. She holds a master’s and bachelor’s degree from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Prior to that, she was a student at Unge Talenter at Barratt Due, in the class of Einar Steen-Nøkleberg.
Julie has performed on leading stages such as the Norwegian Opera & Ballet, Oslo Concert Hall, the Edvard Grieg Museum at Troldhaugen, Universitetets Aula, as well as Wigmore Hall and Milton Court Concert Hall in London. She has also appeared on TV in NRK’s *Grieg: Minutt for Minutt* and *Meisterklasse* with Leif Ove Andsnes. In recent years, she has collaborated with musicians from the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and the Opera Orchestra, produced and participated in several concerts for children and seniors, and released her debut album, *From the Archives*.
Julie Yuqing Ye is employed to teach Rehearsal Techniques for Pianists at Musikk på Majorstuen. The course focuses on effective and precise music preparation, good ensemble playing with other musicians, and prima vista skills. She also teaches pianists in Ensemble Playing.
