Jon Halvor Lund

Jon Halvor Lund studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover in Germany, with Torleiv Nedberg, Eirik Birkeland, and Dag Jensen as his bassoon instructors.

Lund is the alternate principal bassoonist at the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet and also teaches bassoon at the Conservatory of Music at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø. Before joining the Opera Orchestra in 2014, he was principal bassoonist of the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra for ten years. He has also previously worked for two years as the alternate principal bassoonist in the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra in Spain and held a one-year substitute position with the Oslo Philharmonic.

As a soloist, Jon Halvor has performed with colleagues from both the Opera Orchestra and the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra, as well as with Orquesta Lirica Lado B in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a chamber musician, he regularly performs in the Opera Orchestra’s chamber music concerts and is a permanent member of the Oslo Chamber Academy.
