Catherine Berg has been a clarinetist in the Norwegian Armed Forces Staff Band since 1996. She also performs regularly with several symphony orchestras and is active as a chamber musician, including with the Oslo Chamber Academy. In addition, she teaches at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.
Berg trained in France, studying with Richard Vieille at the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris. For five years after her studies, she worked as a performing musician and teacher in Paris, while continuing her own training with leading clarinetists such as Alain Damiens (Ensemble Intercontemporain), Michel Arrignon (Paris Opera), and Pasqual Moragues (Orchestre de Paris). After several years as a performer and educator, Berg also trained as a gestalt therapist at the Norwegian Gestalt Institute.
She currently teaches clarinet in the Young Talents program at the Barratt Due Institute of Music.
