Anders Hall Grøterud

Head of Ung FilharmoniAcademy, Ung Filharmoni

Excellent performances, healthy development of talent, and the pursuit of best practices have always fascinated me. Being able to work with this in music is a great privilege.

Anders Hall Grøterud is the Head of Ung Filharmoni (Young Philharmonic). He is also affiliated with the Academy where he teaches performance theory.

Grøterud’s primary responsibility is to drive the expansion of talent programs for young classical performers in Norway’s largest regions and to raise their quality to an international level. He also contributes to gathering and developing knowledge about talent development and creating national meeting places for professional communities. The Center for Talent Development organizes around twenty regional talent gatherings each year, co-organizes Ung Filharmoni, and initiates national talent conferences for piano, wind, and strings.

Grøterud was educated at the University of Oslo and the Norwegian School of Sport Sciences, majoring in sports psychology. He has many years of experience in leadership, communication, and consulting, and has served as national team coach in triathlon, communications director for the SATS Group, and practice director at Gambit Hill & Knowlton. He also has several years of experience as a journalist for Aftenposten, Dagbladet, and VG, and has led successful lobbying projects for various organizations. He is the author of the book Sporty Business – How to Succeed at Work Using Elite Sports Methods.

Anders Hall Grøterud joined the Barratt Due Institute of Music as a guest lecturer in 2007. He has since taught regularly in performance subjects, focusing on practice processes and performance psychology. He began his current position in May 2016.
